- Pocket depthRegular sheets are designed to fit beds between 7-14 inches tall. You'll need deep pocket sheets if your bed is over 14 inches tall.
- PriceYou can find a pair of sheets to fit almost any budget.
- Thread CountSheets with a high thread count can make for a more luxurious finish, but make sure they're made of a quality material. Material matters most!
Best sheets of 2023
The Luxome Luxury Sheets are the best overall bedsheets because of their quality, durability and feel. They're made of viscose from bamboo that holds up well after lots of washings. They have a sateen weave that's really breathable and great for hot sleepers. These sheets are super smooth and breathable, without trapping any body heat -- the kind of sheet set that everyone can enjoy. This best bedsheet set also accommodates thicker mattresses with its deep pockets.
Includes: Fitted sheet, flat sheet and two pillow cases
Colors: 9 options
Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King, Split King
If you're a hot sleeper, the last thing you want is a sheet set that slowly roasts you all night. Sheets & Giggles eucalyptus sheets are our pick for the best cooling sheets.
Unlike other sheets for hot sleepers, the Sheets & Giggles lyocell sheet set doesn't sacrifice silkiness for a crisp, cool touch. Made from eucalyptus, these ultrasoft sheets sleep cool and comfortably, without building up body heat overnight.
These sheets "brought me the best sleep of my life," said CNET How-To Editorial Director Jessica Dolcourt, who bought and tested three other sheet sets before finding this lyocell set. "I could live in these sheets," she added. Sheets & Giggles sheets come in eight solid colors and three striped patterns, ranging from gray and blue shades to deep purple. We also think they offer an affordable price tag for how soft and luxurious they feel.

If you're somebody who likes the feel of silky smooth bedsheets, but dislike how unbreathable and warm silk sheets can be, the Regulator set from MySheetsRock may be a great solution. Made with 100% bamboo rayon, they're ultralight, breathable and silky soft. We think they are the best bamboo bedsheets available.
Typically if I sleep in my birthday suit in regular cotton sheets, they fail at wicking moisture away, leaving me a sweaty sleeper. These bamboo sheets, however, are great at moisture-wicking and left me feeling dry and cool. I also really like how stretchy they are. At first you might think they're a little big for your mattress, but a quick run through the washer and dryer will easily fix it.
If you're a sucker for packaging, I felt like I had just scored the winning basket in a championship game upon opening the box; it's like a greeting card that sings a song when you open it. There were also instructions inside on how to become a sheet burrito, which was pretty charming for sheet packaging.
The Regulator sheets come in nine different colors and start at $149 for a twin set. Prices go up to $209 for a split king-size set.
Includes: Fitted sheet, flat sheet, two pillow cases
Colors: 9 options
Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King, Split King
Buffy is a popular bedding brand that offers sheets made of eucalyptus fibers, one of the most eco-friendly materials available. Buffy is known for its cruelty-free, plant-based, naturally dyed, earth-friendly and home-safe bedding. And on top of that, its sheets are super comfortable.
Buffy's Breeze Sheet Set is great for hot sleepers. Eucalyptus fibers are naturally cooling and breathable, as well as fully biodegradable. The sheets feel soft and silky, and they're lightweight. When paired with a cooling pillow, the light pillowcases hardly interfere with the cooling sensation at all.
Some colors and sizes sell out faster than others, so watch out for when your favorite color is available. Also, look out for regular sales from Buffy. You might be able to get these sheets for less than $145.
Includes: Fitted sheet, flat sheet, two pillow cases
Colors: 14 options
Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King
The Brooklinen Luxe sheet set takes the cake for one of the best (and my favorite) sateen-weave bedsheet sets. Sateen refers to the type of weave used, which is typically a three- or four-over, one-under weave leaving a soft finish that tends to be a little heavier. The Luxe Core set is one of my favorites because it offers comfort and breathability. I'd say they're lighter and a little more crisp than your standard sateen sheet set, making them great for all seasons including warmer months. The Luxe Core sheets also offer a very reasonable price tag compared to other premium sheet sets I've tried.
The Brooklinen Luxe set is made with 100% cotton. They're soft to the touch with a premium 480-thread count. Climbing into bed with them after a long day was dreamy; you can really feel how luxurious they are as the sheets drape over your skin. They also seem to be more wrinkle-resistant than other cotton or bamboo sheets I've tried.
There are a variety of colors available for the Luxe Sheet Set, including neutrals and fun limited editions. In my opinion, Brooklinen had the best set of colors and patterns to choose from. Prices start at $159 for twin sheets and go up to $229 for California king sheets. However, Brooklinen often offers discounts and even has special savings on your order if you're a first-time buyer.

For those who shiver all night, cozy sheets are key, especially in the frigid winter months. Flannel sheets keep you warm and toasty all night long... and make it hard to get out of bed in the morning. LL Bean's Ultrasoft Comfort Flannel Sheets are among the softest bedsheets available today. They are incredibly soft and high quality.
LL Bean is a trusted brand, always delivering what it promises. This flannel sheet set doesn't disappoint, according to enthused reviewers, who enjoy their generous size, softness and coziness.
Includes: Fitted sheet, flat sheet, two pillow cases
Colors: 8 options
Sizes: Twin, Full, Queen, King, California King
Unlike other brands, the Boll and Branch sheet set focuses less on thread count and more on quality of threads, which is something to appreciate because the truth of the matter is that thread count isn't the end-all-be-all measurement of sheet quality. The Signature Hemmed set from Boll and Branch is made from premium organic cotton threads with a four-over, one-under sateen weave. It gives the sheets a slight sheen and amazingly soft feel that transports me to a fancy five-star hotel. We think it's the best organic cotton sheet set you can buy.
The more you use these sheets, the softer they'll get. My significant other has been using Boll and Branch sheets for over a year now, and they feel even cozier than they did when he first pulled them out of the package. They are truly buttery-soft, creamy and drape nicely over your body without being too heavy.
I believe it's the nature of the thread's organic cotton that makes these sheets sleep cooler and lighter than traditional sateen weave sheets. Organic cotton is better at wicking away moisture if you tend to sweat while you sleep. They feel extremely luxurious, and are worth the price if premium sheets are in your budget.

If you sleep with your pets, you probably don't care much about the hair and smells. But if you could sleep with your pet and minimize dander and odors, wouldn't that be great? While you'll be hard-pressed to find a truly pet-proof luxury sheet set, a few characteristics can help. The best bedsheets for people who sleep with pets will feature a tight sateen weave, a smooth finish and durability.
Silk and linen sheets work well, but not everyone enjoys the slippiness of a silk sheet or the roughness of a linen sheet. Cotton works, too, as long as it's tightly woven with a smooth finish (look for percale or sateen when shopping).
This sateen sheet set from Pottery Barn features an impressive 700-thread count, making them dense and durable enough to withstand pawing from your dog, yet soft enough to support cozy sleep. They're not cheap, but they'll probably pay for themselves over time because they'll stand up to your pup, and Pottery Barn has pay-over-time options.

Colors: 3 options
Sizes: Full, Queen, King, California King
You may not want to spend over $100 on a bedsheet set, but you still want a quality pair that makes you excited to jump into bed. The Solid Performance set from Target offers a comfy and inviting feel at an extremely reasonable price tag.
They're made with 100% cotton and have a 400-thread count and honestly feel more expensive than they are. They're soft to the touch rather than scratchy or starchy like other low-cost sheets I've tested. However, they do seem a bit more wrinkly and might need a little ironing if you're somebody who loves the look of a smooth sheet on your bed.
Another great thing about these sheets is how big of a mattress they can fit. Your mattress can be up to 18 inches thick and these sheets will fit nice and snug around it.
Includes: Fitted sheet, flat sheet, two pillow cases
Colors: 11 options
Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King
If you're one of those people who has fist fights with their sheets at night, you need some high-performance bedsheets that won't come untucked from the corner of your mattress. You need a good fitted sheet that stays put through tumultuous nights.
The key to fitted sheets that don't slip is depth. Look for sheets advertised as "deep-pocket sheets," like this one from Empyrean Bedding, which fits mattresses up to 21 inches tall. This sheet also features elastic straps in all corners, ensuring the sheet stays taut on your mattress.
Buyer reviews online pay testament to the extra-deep pockets and the sheet staying put even for sleepers who move a lot during the night.

If you're someone looking for a budget sheet set that's dependable, consider the Amazon Basics Microfiber sheet set. We think it's the best sheet set on Amazon thanks to its color selection and durability. These sheets will stand the test of time with washing without tearing or fraying.
It's true they aren't the most luxurious sheets out there. For around $30 or less, you get what you pay for. That said, for the average person they are a good everyday sheet that you will sleep well on.

What are the different sheet types?
When it comes to the best sheets, there are a lot of fabric and weave options you have to sort through. If you're just starting, that can get confusing. So let's go through the main fabric options found in sheets.
- Percale: Percale is one of the most common fabrics among the best sheets because it's lightweight and soft. It's a plain-weave fabric that's typically made from cotton, though it can be made from polyester, rayon or other synthetic fabrics.
- Flannel: Flannel sheets are what you want to have when it's cold outside. Made from cotton, it's a more medium or heavy weight fabric. Unlike other sheets, flannel isn't measured in thread count, it is measured by weight per square meter.
- Microfiber: Microfiber is another extremely popular sheet style. It has a tight polyester weave, which means it's more durable than other options like satin or sateen. Microfiber sheets are often your budget option.
- Satin: Satin feels like ultimate luxury, it's silky and smooth with a shiny finish. Satin sheets aren't as durable as other sheet fabrics, as it's a pretty delicate material.
- Sateen: If you're looking for a more luxurious feel, sateen sheets may best fit your needs. Sateen is a type of weave with vertical threads. This type of sheet typically is more fragile than dense woven fabrics.
- Jersey: Jersey sheets are like putting your favorite T-shirt on your bed. It's made with the same knit cotton blend that clothing uses. The best jersey sheets are stretchy and soft. However, they tend to snag and develop pilling over time.
Best sheets FAQ
What is the best material for sheets?
The best sheets will depend on what you're looking for as a sleeper.
If you tend to sleep hot, the best sheets will be organic cotton, linen or bamboo because they're lightweight and great at wicking away moisture like sweat. Cold sleepers, on the other hand, may sleep best with flannel, cashmere or microfiber.
Satin sheets offer a smooth and silky feel, while sheets with a sateen weave feel buttery, creamy and soft. Percale, on the other hand, is a popular type of weave because of how lightweight and crisp they feel. Percale is also very durable thanks to its specific tight weave.
How long do sheets last?
The average best sheet set will last around two years, however, that depends on the quality of sheets and how well you take care of them. Budget sheets will be less longer-lasting, while more premium sheets will last longer than two years.
You should also ensure to follow the manufacturer's washing instructions, wash them every two weeks and regularly rotate them so the top and bottom alternate.
What is the best material for sheets to keep you cool?
If you're a hot sleeper, the last thing you want to do is add something to your bed that will trap heat and make you hotter at night. The best sheets for hot sleepers will be breathable and airy -- like linen or cotton. Hot sleepers typically want to stay away from thicker options like jersey or flannel.
Which wrinkles less, percale or sateen?
Sheets with a sateen weave tend to be less wrinkle-prone, while percale sheets are more likely to get wrinkled. Sateen sheets are more silky-smooth, while percale offers a light and crisp feel.
